Professor Crowell
Our Kindle Project has been designed and is led by Associate Professor Charles Crowell.  Re-framing our conception of the utility of the Kindle (and e-readers generally) as a powerful pedagogical tool, rather than a new reading device which simply provides a new modality for extending the traditional classroom, both defines the uniqueness and pertinence of our Kindle inquiry and draws extensively on Professor Crowell's prior work and research.

Professor Crowell is recognised for his theorizing and award-winning curricular design for complex inquiry in virtual environments, as well as his innovative and precedent-setting work in the field of Social Entrepreneurship. Currently he leads courses in Learning & Working in Virtual Environments, Organisational Finance and Sustainable Capital Structure, Ecological Economics, and The Networked Enterprise.  In Spring, 2010, Professor Crowell will continue our Kindle Project, as well as lead an investigation into the possible uses of iPhones in educational contexts.

Professor Crowell is also the Director of our Southern Vermont College's Build The Sustainable Enterprise program.  He joined the faculty at Southern Vermont College in 2008.  Previously he held graduate Management faculty positions at the School for International Training, the Fielding Graduate University, and Antioch New England Graduate University.  He has also been on the faculty at Champlain, Lyndon State, and Goddard colleges, as well as a Visiting Lecture in Economics at Johnson State College.  He is also affiliated with the Institute for Virtual Inquiry.
